Confident While Suffering - Daniel Holmquist - 1 Peter 4:12-19

2009-08-23 by

Today, we are starting part three of this letter of the Apostle Peter. Our Apostle has some final thoughts on suffering to bring to our attention. It is all in the perspective we choose to take; to be prepared with a spiritual outlook that sees God’s purpose at work in unjust suffering so that we may rejoice with great spiritual rejoicing. Our Apostle fills our minds with two great purposes in our suffering: to be blessed both now and forever and to be perfected both now and forever.

A New Way of Life - Daniel Holmquist - 1 Peter 4:1-6

2009-08-02 by

Our Apostle Peter has taught us that suffering unjustly in this world as Christians is sometimes part of God’s will. Nevertheless, God is with us and for us, and we are still to proclaim the Gospel of Christ. Even our Lord Jesus suffered, and then He received His glory; and this was applied to us vicariously for our salvation. He is now reigning in heaven over all things on behalf of His Church, and so we can live victoriously here and now. Living resolved to suffer to avoid sinning, we are further strengthened to live for the will of God. Our new way of living honors the glory of God.
