Our Mission Conference theme this October has been: “Mission Through Prayer.” In learning about prayer and its relationship to the Mission of God, we have considered the significance of three things: our Lord’s ascension, worship as a church, and praying spiritually. Today we will learn about urgency in prayer: urgently pray for salvation from our saving God, and urgently appeal with His saving Gospel. We must keep these two priorities as priorities, and aligned with God’s character and purpose.

Many Prayers Needed for Boldness - Daniel Holmquist - Ephesians 6:18-20

Prayer is crucial in the mission—for its success all around, and specifically for boldness in proclaiming the Gospel. What is called for is many prayers, not just a few; nor prayers said as matter of course but prayed in the Spirit. Our Apostle’s urgent appeal here is timeless for the Church involved in the Mission of God: Pray in the Spirit with persevering alertness for the Church’s boldness in Gospel preaching. Within the Apostle’s discussion of fighting valiantly in the spiritual war, we now come to the absolutely crucial matter of prayer.
